Grub
Control
Beetle activity indicates you could be headed for a
big problem. Their C-Shaped larvae which are White Grubs
are found in the soil below the thatch layer, and they
feed on the roots of grass plants. Left untreated, White
Grubs can wipe out your entire lawn. The best time to
pre-treat is in the late summer and early fall. Symptoms:
irregular brown spots of wilted, dead or dying turf
during spring and fall, that can be rolled back with
your fingers and easily lifted from the ground. Failure
to treat the lawn if grubs are evident, may result in
considerable damage and total replacement of the lawn
is often necessary.
Flea
& Tick Control
We Can Protect Your Pets From Fleas & Ticks In The
Lawn !
Rid your lawn of fleas and ticks this summer. Your lawn
and ornamental areas must he treated at the same time
you treat your pets for effective results. Fleas can
trigger infection and make your pets miserable, and
Ticks are one of the leading carriers of Lyme Disease.
Protect your home and pets and make them more comfortable.
Treatment will last approximately 5 to 6 weeks.
Perimeter
Pest Control
Perimeter Pest Control is a program of up to three treatments
that provide an insect shield that controls such pests
as ants, fleas, ticks, spiders and many more before
they enter your home. We will apply an insect spray
band 6 to 8 feet around the foundation of the foundation
and 2 feet up the foundation wall of your home. This
application provides protection for your home from these
invading insects
Over
Seeding
The best way to increase turf density
in a thin established lawn is with our over seeding
service. Our over seeding is usually done in conjunction
with a core aeration to provide maximum seed germination.
Our professional quality seed is broadcast over your
lawn using our professional spreaders. Our rates of
seed will vary based on your lawn’s current density
as well as bare or sparse areas throughout your lawn.
Approximately 3 to 5 pounds of seed per 1000 square
feet is needed for general over seeding, however higher
rates may be necessary for bare or sparse conditions.
We offer custom blends of Kentucky bluegrass and perennial
ryegrasses for our sunny lawns. We also provide chewing
and creeping red fescues for lawns with more shade.
Remember that all turf type grass plants need photosynthesis
(sun light) to survive and shade grass varieties do
not guarantee long term success in heavy shaded areas.
It is important that seeded areas receive the recommended
irrigation either from watering, rain or both for proper
germination.
Slice / Slit Seeding
This process is
reserved for bare compacted soils and or new lawn install
situations where grass has not previously been established.
We use our specialty designed slice seeding machines
to cut slits directly into the soil. This process also
integrates seed into the slits to allow maximum soil-seed
contact. It is important that seeded areas receive the
recommended irrigation either from watering, rain or
both for proper germination.
Hydro
Seeding
Hydro seeding is
the application of a combination of grass seed, degradable
tacking fibers, fertilizer, and water. Loose bare soil
is essential for this process to be successful in establishing
a dense new lawn. The fibrous tacking materials will
biodegrade natural. These tacking materials will also
help with erosion control, preserving moisture, and
will help in maintaining good soil-seed contact.
Winterizer
Treatment
Fertilization in
late fall/early winter near the time turf goes into
winter dormancy can be very beneficial. Root development
continues after the top growth stops and leads to building
of carbohydrate reserves which allows your cool season
grasses to survive the harsh winter dormancy period
and come out growing strong in the spring. The quicker
your grass comes out of dormancy the less opportunity
there is for new weeds to appear. In many cases there
is an increased stress tolerance in the summer.
Vegetation
Control
Think Green offers
a professional grade non-selective herbicide to control
weeds and grasses in non-turf areas such as rock areas,
mulch beds, gravel driveways and fence lines. This non-selective
control will eliminate all plant life it comes in contact
with. This application can be dangerous to desired plant
life if applied to close to such plants. Some undesired
plants may need to be removed by mechanical means.
Fungicide
Treatment
Cool season grasses
are highly susceptible to turf fungi (disease). When
conditions are favorable for disease such as high temperatures,
high humidity, high pressure, and/or excessive rain
or irrigation fungus may become active. When fungal
development occurs it begins to infect the host plants
(grass plants) causing noticeable color and growth problems.
Turf fungi are soil and sod born. Lawns are must susceptible
to disease in sodded lawns and recently seeded lawns,
planted within the last 5 years. Multiple applications
of fungicides may be necessary to stop or prevent fungi
activity. A minimum of 2 treatments applied approximately
14 to 21 days apart is recommended at first sight of
disease activity. Preventative fungicides and proper
cultural practices together are the most effective means
for controlling lawn diseases.
Lime
Treatment
Turf grows best
when the soil ph is between a 6.0 and 7.5 rating. Lime
helps to increase the ph level of an acidic soil to
aid in nutrient uptake and for better turf health and
development. Lime is applied in late autumn. A soil
test may be required to determine if lime is right for
your lawn.
Penn
Mulch
"What is Penn Mulch?", you ask. Penn mulch
is a pelletized seed establishment product used by Think
Green when installing new lawns or repairing existing
lawns instead of straw. Penn mulch is water absorbing
with starter fertilizer blended. Penn Mulch can be applied
by walk behind spreader. Penn mulch absorbs 3-4 times
its weight in water and expands 2-3 times in size for
better, faster seed germination and establishment. Penn
Mulch enhances new seed germination 36%, because of
its moisture retention capability. Penn Mulch is better
than straw because it applies easier and faster, won’t
blow away in wind, and will completely decompose in
the lawn. Penn mulch’s attractive green color
is aesthetically pleasing, similar to hydro-seeding.
Sod
Installation
An instant fix when installed by Think Green. Sod eliminates
problems with soil erosion, mud, and weeds. And we can
install sod at almost any time during the growing season.
We install only the highest quality professionally raised
grasses. Our sod is sturdy and dense from the outset
and is weed-free. Although the initial cost of sod is
considerably more than planting seed. Grass seeding
costs about the same in the long run since you have
to overseed in spring and fall following the initial
seeding to grow a dense lawn. After sod is installed,
deep watering is essential -- the water must penetrate
6 inches below the sod to encourage roots to penetrate
deeply as they knit the sod to the soil. Pay attention
to the seams between pieces of sod and the edges along
walks and drives, and water them carefully because they
can dry out quickly.
Sulfur
Turf grows best when the soil ph is between a 6.0 and
7.5 rating. Sulfur helps to decrease the ph level of
an alkaline soil to aid in nutrient uptake and for better
turf health and development. Sulfur is applied in late
autumn. A soil test may be required to determine if
sulfur is right for your lawn.
Mulch Pre-Emergent
Our Mulch Pre-M program can help to limit the amount
of weeds that germinate in your mulch beds and flower
beds this summer. Our Mulch Pre-M program consists of
a series of 3 applications. The first application is
applied early spring before any weeds start to germinate,
the second application in late spring after new mulch
is applied and then the third application is applied
mid to late summer to extend control through the season.
This program prevents approximately 75-85% of weed seedlings
from ever germinating. If the mulch Pre-M barrier is
broken or disturbed some weeds may still have opportunity
to germinate. Pre-M applications are not designed to
control existing weeds. If weeds currently exist they
will need to be pulled or controlled with a post emergent
treatment.
